Description

Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all electrical, electronic equipment, installations and machinery as directed by the Chief Electrical Officer.   

Key Responsibilities

• Maintains and repairs electrical/electronic installations in the engine room as directed by the Chief Electrical Officer.  
• Maintains and repairs electrical installation in the Hotel Department, including light systems, dimmer systems, sliding doors and kitchen equipment.
• Maintains and repairs safety equipment, including navigation lights, fire damper and other equipment as needed.
• Assists the 2nd or 1st Electrical Officer with maintenance and repair of the propulsion system.
• Communicates effectively with Deck, Technical and Hotel personnel.  
• Prioritizes ethics and compliance including health, environmental protection, safety and security in day to day duties.
• Other duties as assigned by the Chief Electrical Officer.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Education:  

• National Seaman’s Book 
• Minimum of 6 years electrical education and 1 year of practical experience.
• MBO Electrical (Dutch), electrician education or certification equivalent.

Experience:

• Completed a 1-year electrical apprenticeship as part of education as an electrician onboard ship or shoreside.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  

• See HRP-1200 STCW/COC requirements for a 3rd Electrical Officer.
• See TRG-1001 CSMART requirements for a 3rd Electrical Officer.
