The Opportunity

The Project Billing Accountant will be responsible for invoicing of assigned projects and ensure contract terms are followed regarding correct billing rates and schedules. In addition, this position will be responsible for intermediate to moderately complex level billings. This position works closely with Project Accountants and Project Controls personnel.  This position will also answer Project Management questions regarding project billing criteria and invoice drafts. Works under close supervision.

Key Responsibilities

Invoicing: 

• Generates, audits and distributes draft invoices and/or credit memos to Project Management for review based on understanding of contract. Obtains appropriate approval and distributes accordingly. 
• Ensures billing rates or billing schedules are correctly attached to projects & match contract terms. 
• Researches past due invoices and collaborates with project teams on collection activities. 
• Identifies process improvement opportunities for billings owned. 

Financial Analysis: 

• Researches and responds to project invoicing related questions as requested.  
• Provides basic analysis and recommendations. 

Compliance: 

• Coordinates activities as needed to support client requests and Black & Veatch audits

Resource Management: 

• Supports continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvement. 

Primary Internal Clients: 

• Primary internal clients are Global Billing Team billers, supervisors and management; project managers; project controls; project accounting. 

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Technical Skills:

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) and Oracle
• Knowledge of Black and Veatch Systems

 

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent experience.
• Typically 2+ years' related experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations
