As an Acute Clinical Staff Pharmacist at Ogallala Community Hospital in Ogallala, Nebraska, you will have the opportunity to work with a welcoming and accommodating staff that operates in a low-stress, supportive environment to provide the best care for our patients. Our Acute Clinical Staff Pharmacists are responsible for order verification, consultation with ancillary staff regarding medications, monitoring for allergies and duplicate therapies, consulting and monitoring for Vancomycin dosing, as well as clarifying orders with providers when necessary/appropriate, and more. If you hold your PharmD, Nebraska Pharmacist licensure, and like working alongside a friendly, caring team, and performing a wide range of pharmaceutical duties, this role is for you!

We are looking for a full-time Acute Clinical Staff Pharmacist to join our Ogallala Community Hospital pharmacy team! This is a full-time opportunity that will work 32 hours per week, on day shift, in our critical access setting. The hours of this position will fall within Monday - Friday, from 8AM - 5PM. Prior Cerner experience and experience compounding non-hazardous/hazardous medications is preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients using the medication use process. This position is accountable for documentation of all components of pharmaceutical care they deliver to patients. Oversees the activities of pharmacy technicians and interns, coordinating workflow and approving medications prior to being dispensed. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients being served.  Must assess data reflective of the patient’s status, interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements and provide pharmaceutical care based on those needs. Adheres to local, state, and federal laws regarding the profession of pharmacy practice.

CORE FUNCTIONS

1.  Processes medication orders and evaluates their appropriateness and completeness with respect to patient data including age, height, weight, diagnosis, laboratory values, and other pertinent patient information.

2. Utilizes clinical pharmacy skills to assess patient medication regimens and formulates recommendations to ensure optimal safety, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness for all prescribed medication therapies.  Contacts the prescriber with suggestions for improvement and resolves problems with medication orders as needed.
