Pay Range:

$78,100.00 - $128,500.00

POSITION SUMMARY 

The Research Scientist will lead improvements for current products as well as developments for new products in our Hematology lab. You will evaluate these new technologies to improve processes and the identification of novel applications for the department. This position requires the ability to work on extremely complex problems, where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variables.  

This is a lab based role that primarily works with Hematology products. Experience with hematology or cell biology is required.

  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

• Design and perform complex experiments to improve existing products and/or develop new products 
• Investigate and identify new research areas and technologies to support further product development 
• Follow literature and commercial trends to remain current in areas related to production of recombinant protein in cell culture 
• Plan and conduct experiments with the purpose of improving recombinant protein yields, quality, and process efficiency, while implementing these process improvements. 
• Suggest new product targets. Participate in processes to identify and prioritize products. 
• Identify and propose new product specifications and new projects or products needed in the field 
• Train and mentor others in the lab 
• Gather and analyze data to draw conclusions and determine next steps for future experimentation 
• Create and write work instructions and standard operating procedures 
• Collaborate cross-functionally to lead multi-department projects and further product development across Bio-Techne 
• Troubleshoot issues of high complexity  
• Ability to lead projects of large scope while delegating responsibilities to those within the group 
• Follow guidelines and comply with all company safety, quality, and training procedures and regulations 
• Draft and revise standard operating procedures (SOPs)  
• Share lab duties with team, which includes stocking solutions, buffers and media preparation, cleaning and ongoing instrument maintenance 
• Demonstrate EPIC Values in daily work 
• Perform additional duties as assigned 
• Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Handbook and follows guidelines regarding safety as outlined in the AWAIR, Chemical Hygiene and Exposure Control manuals in accordance to the job.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS 

Education and Experience: 

• Ph.D. in a related field and up to 5 years of relevant experience is required 

• Or, Master’s degree in a related field (or equivalent experience) and 8+ years of experience is required 
• Experience with Hematology and Cell Biology is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

• Possess a high level of understanding and expertise of underlying principles of cell biology, microbiology, cell culture, biochemistry, and related areas.

• Must demonstrate leadership in training other lab members and leading projects cross-functionally
