Position Summary:

The Cloud Services Engineer’s primary responsibility is to support the data center operations on the Cloud Services team which consists of providing technical support, documentation, implementing systems, maintaining systems, and improving the processes and procedures of the Data Center to meet the defined business goals of the organization. This position may also include interaction with customers and HBS sales associates in both pre-sales, demonstration, and onboarding efforts.


Roles and Responsibilities/ Essential Functions:

  • Work as a member of the HBS Cloud Services Team that provides Cloud Hosting and Data Center Hosting offerings to HBS’s account base.
  • Perform and provide technical support to Heartland Data Center/Cloud Hosting customers.
  • Obtain knowledge on other technologies, as directed by customer demand.
  • Design, install, monitor, document, and maintain Data Center operations and its related systems.
  • Evaluate, Design, and Implement new data center technologies and products.
  • Configure and maintain monitoring services in Data Centers.
  • System configuration of Windows/Linux Servers, Multi-Tenant cloud solutions, backup solutions, hypervisor servers, storage arrays, and network equipment.
  • Responsible for proactive maintenance, upgrades, and support of Data Center systems with a focus on Windows/Linux Servers, Multi-Tenant cloud solutions, backup solutions, hypervisor servers, storage arrays, and network equipment.
  • Disaster recovery planning and implementation for data center systems.
  • Onboard new customers into Cloud Service offerings.
  • Assist in achieving and maintaining SOC 2 Type 2 compliance in HBS’s Data Centers.
  • Follow SOC 2 Type 2 controls and change management controls throughout the year.
  • Contribute and enhance internal department process/system documentation.
  • Our Data Center provides 24/7 coverage, and you will be in an on-call rotation.
  • Service affecting upgrades and maintenance to data center systems will require to be performed outside of working business hours.
  • Follow remote hands clients’ processes and procedures as requested by client.
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere as both a leader and contributor as assigned.
  • At all times maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor.
  • Cross-Education/Mentoring of other Data Center personnel, HBS Engineers, or related personnel.
  • Assist internal IT in the design and implementation of strategic projects.
  • Occasional travel to Data Centers as needed.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.
