Position Summary

The Coordinator of Rock Climbing is a full time, 12-month position in the Department of Physical Education and Recreation. The Coordinator provides leadership in the management of the indoor climbing facility, including rock climbing lessons, youth rock climbing camps, community programs, special events, and teaching Physical Education Rock Climbing courses.

The Coordinator is responsible for the operations, staffing, program planning, budget management, and facilities and equipment oversight for the Rock District which includes a 30 feet tall rock wall with more than 2,800 square feet of top-rope and lead climbing, and a bouldering wall. The Coordinator analyzes data on participation and assists with the assessment of the rock climbing program.

The Coordinator supervises approximately 30 student employees which includes hiring, training, scheduling, evaluation and development. The person in this position will lead by example and maintain the highest ethical standards within the department and the university.

This position reports to the Associate Director for Facilities for all position responsibilities with the exception of teaching. The position reports to the Assistant Director for Physical Education/Outdoor Pursuits Program for the academic teaching responsibilities.
