As an Associate Technical Designer, you’ll play a key role in transforming creative concepts into production-ready garments. You’ll partner closely with Design, Product Development, and our global factory partners to ensure fit, function, and quality meet Royal Robbins’ standards season after season. WHAT YOU WILL DO
Technical Design Fit & Execution
Support the Technical Design Manager in executing design and fit intent while maintaining construction standards, brand integrity, and margin objectives
Prepare garments for fit sessions by measuring samples, documenting findings, and reviewing comments
Participate in fit sessions and collaborate on solutions that improve fit, function, and manufacturability
Track and monitor seasonal fits using established tracking tools
Product Development & Documentation
Manage carry-over product technical packages seasonally, ensuring specifications, measurements, and construction details remain accurate and up to date in PLM
Ensure all tech pack documentation is complete, accurate, and production ready
Effectively communicate updates and resolve questions with factories and cross-functional partners
3D & Digital Tools
Update and maintain the seasonal 3D sample library in CLO3D to support early-stage prototyping and development
Process, Organization, & Collaboration
Attend weekly WIP meetings to help maintain production timelines and seasonal deadlines
Organize and maintain fit samples, records, libraries, and tools within the Technical Design workspace
Schedule and coordinate with fit models
Participate in team, departmental, and company meetings as needed
WHAT YOU BRING
Education in a relevant field such as Pattern Making, Fashion Design, or Textiles
2+ years of technical design experience in the apparel industry
Hands-on experience working in PLM systems
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, and Photoshop
Working knowledge of CLO3D or similar 3D apparel design software
Foundational understanding of patternmaking, garment fit, construction, and engineering across key apparel categories
Fabric, trim, and construction knowledge with the ability to apply it to fit and functionality
Clear, accurate written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to collaborate across cultures and time zones
A collaborative, solution-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail
Comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Adaptability and willingness to evolve with business needs
Preferred (but not required)
Experience in the outdoor or lifestyle apparel industry
Passion for the outdoors, adventure, and sustainable product design
