Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director, Government & Community Affairs (GCA) this role is an individual contributor responsible for local government, regulatory, and community affairs matters in New Mexico and Utah. Assists with local regulatory, franchising and public policy matters for assigned geographic area. Provides subject matter guidance to employees as required. Develops processes and procedures to drive department efficiencies. Assists in development and meeting of departmental budget.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities 

  • Manages franchise renewal and transfer efforts for assigned franchises consistent with the strategies and policies for the assigned geographic area.  

  • Prepares franchise renewal applications and supporting data for renewal negotiations and assists in preparation of renewal strategy. 

  • Participates in franchise renewal negotiations with municipalities and/or their consultants. 

  • Reviews, interprets and communicates meanings of the terms and conditions of franchises, franchise-related agreements and other contracts for implementation to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards. 

  • Supports the government relations and public policy strategy as developed for the market. 

  • Supports Senior Director and State VP by representing Comcast at a wide variety of external events and engagements. Travels to attend meetings, hearings, and other events as required. 

  • Monitors ordinances and identifies important municipal issues of significance to the company. 

  • Oversees franchise-required construction installation of complimentary cable services to public buildings, including the negotiation of any additional terms and conditions with Local Franchise Authorities (FLA). 

  • Manages service complaints associated with complimentary services. 

  • Develops and maintains relationships with government representatives and regulators in the assigned geographic area.  

  • Collaborates with GCA team to coordinate community affairs activities and other corporate initiatives.  

  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance. 

  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary. 

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Strong team player and willingness to assist department in various tasks.  

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities and possess good organizational skills.  

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and represent Comcast in a positive, professional manner.
