Job Duties

Partners with business development teams within Government Medical Services and other commercial staff as required to promote new business agendas and assists in solution design.

· Is the medical representative of GMS in front of clients when the Medical Director is unavailable.

· Engages with all clients to ensure that contracted medical services meet their requirements.

· Working with the clinical operations team ensures that mobilisation of new projects is coordinated and meets the required timelines.

· Regularly coordinates, attends, and directs practice meetings for medical leadership on sites as directed by the MDR.

· Actively participates in recruiting activities to include job description creation, resume’ reviews and candidate interviews, in coordination with the GMS Recruiting Team.

· Provides oversight of all processes dealing with disruptive or impaired clinicians.

Role Summary

The Deputy Medical Director (DMD) works as a part of the Medical Services department within the Government Medical Services business and is responsible for providing medical leadership and expertise to all projects. Specifically, the Deputy Medical Director (OCONUS) is responsible for overseeing patient care standards, governance at all sites and for all clinicians within the assigned programs, ensuring that clinical staff deliver the highest quality medical care and that all clinical policies and procedures are in place and correct. The DMD (OCONUS) GMS is also responsible for assisting in the design of clinical solutions for new projects and proposals. This is a very active, hands-on role in a rapidly growing company. The position requires innovation as well as great flexibility in thought and action. The DMD (OCONUS) works directly with the Medical Director (GMS) in performing the following:

Occupational Health & Safety

Comply with any reasonable instructions, policies, procedures or safe work practices given by International SOS in adhering to safe work procedures.

· Co-operate with management in its fulfilment of its legislative obligations.

· Take reasonable care to ensure their own health and safety and the safety of others.

· To report any injury, hazard, or illness as soon as possible to their supervisor.

Participate in the development and maintenance of a safe and healthy workplace.

· Undertake all mandatory OH&S training as required.

· Responsible for design and oversight of medical surveillance program

Promotion of International SOS Services

Ensure International SOS, Government Medical Services is represented in a professional manner.

· Assist in the promotion of International SOS’s Medical Services with the client.

· Participate in the client’s and International SOS’s health promotion and wellness education on environmental issues, personal protection, diseases, and health.

Key responsibilities

Provides direct oversight and coordination of clinical governance at all project locations, adhering to site specific and regional policies and procedures.

o Assists the Medical Director (GMS) with all aspects of clinical governance across all assigned GMS programs.

o Provides medical direction and administration including, but not limited to, developing medical policies, protocols, and procedures.

o Initiates, enables, and monitors quality improvement programs and initiatives.

o Reports incidents and accidents and near misses and works with GMS Team to formulate an action plan to resolve and prevent them and mitigate identified risks and hazards.

o Initiates and improves methodologies for collecting anonymised statistical data regarding clinical performance.

o Participates in physician leadership committees and training initiatives across the North American group of physicians and International SOS more broadly.

o Acts as a liaison for International SOS (GMS) with all relevant government agencies, contractors, and local/regional medical facilities.

o Travels to domestic and international sites on a regular basis for program audits and evaluations.

Qualifications & Experience

Medical Degree from a recognized US academic institution (MD/DO)

· Full registration and un-encumbered license to practice medicine in US.

· Upper-level medical administrative experience with overseas medical operations, to include immigrant/refugee shelter operation is highly desired

· Current DEA certification

· Minimum 5 years practice experience in an appropriate clinical speciality

· Minimum of 5 years in a management position.

· Relevant experience planning, deploying, and managing remot
