Your Responsibilities
As a Senior Product Engineer for John Deere in Ankeny, IA, you will:
- Lead software architecture, systems design, implementation & integration for the propulsion and steering systems, as well as advanced technology solutions such as integration of next generation command center, Next generation displays, GPS based guidance for Sugar Harvesters and Self-Propelled Windrower machines in production environment or equivalent;
- Translate customer needs and requirements into software features and stories which can be planned and tracked in Azure DevOps;
- Compile and furnish engineering decisions, reports of pertinent design analyses data, and interface documents to document design solution and align other functional design engineers;
- Work in an Agile and Scrum team environment: Coordinate, prioritize and plan work to meet project milestones;
- Track and report progress of project delivery and quality utilizing Azure DevOps or equivalent;
- Utilize C/C++/MBSD for software development workflow and toolsets, track software changes and versions using GitHub, ensure framework supports machine automation; Apply applicable SAE/ISO and company standards to solutions, design CAN messaging and system/component diagnostics and calibrations using appropriate tools and procedures;
- Assist in developing and/or executing test plans for product verification and validation;
- Support architecture for on-board automated calibrations and provide support for vehicle tunning for the propulsion and steering systems;
- Translate and present technical engineering details and provide technical support to non-software groups including marketing, manufacturing, quality and supply management organizations;
- Be proficient in utilizing: C / C++ editor / compilers e.g. Microsoft visual studio, linkers and programmers; Embedded systems development toolchain e.g. debuggers, measurement and calibration devices like multimeters, digital oscilloscope, Vector's CANape tool; Version control and regression test automation frameworks: GitHub, Jenkins, GitHub pagesframework for documentation; CAN network analysis and debugging tools: Vector's CANalyzer, CANape. Microsoft Applications: Azure DevOps, Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, OneNote.
- Up to 25% international and domestic travel required. Must live within normal commuting distance of the worksite. Up to 20% remote work allowed.
