The Boeing CompanyBoeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Mobility, Surveillance & Bombers (MS&B) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Digital Capabilities Manager to join the Digital Transformation organization in Oklahoma City, OK.
Reporting to the Digital Transformation Senior Manager, this role will lead a team to identify, implement, and sustain tools and technologies that improve engineering first-time quality, affordability, and productivity to advance modification and sustainment capabilities across the division.
The Digital Capabilities Manager will lead a multidisciplinary team of software engineers, Data‑Driven AI/ML Technology Solution Engineers, data analysts, data scientists, systems engineering engineers, 3D scanning engineers and technicians, advanced visualization specialists, and additive manufacturing personnel. The manager will oversee the development or implementation of tools, technology, software, AI/ML enablers, and analytics, including digital engineering and visualization technologies such as 3D scanning, additive manufacturing, advanced visualization, xR, and productivity enhancing software/AI solutions.
Position Responsibilities:
- Technology Strategy & Adoption:
- Identify, evaluate, and lead infusion of industry and enterprise technologies into MS&B, including 3D scanning, additive manufacturing (3D printing), advanced visualization, extended reality (xR), digital twin solutions, software productivity enablers, artificial intelligence integration, and complementary digital engineering toolchains.
- Develop adoption roadmaps and transition plans for piloting, scaling, and institutionalizing new capabilities across engineering and sustainment value streams.
- Team Leadership & Delivery:
- Lead, mentor, and grow an integrated team of software engineers, AI/ML engineers, data analysts, data scientists, systems engineers, technicians, and analysts who develop and sustain digital capabilities, analytics, and automation.
- Plan and prioritize work, ensuring delivery of production-ready software, models, analytics, and tool integrations with measurable impact focusing on engineering first-time quality, affordability, and productivity.
- Solution Architecture & Integration:
- Drive architecture and integration strategies to enable seamless interaction between digital tools (e.g., 3D capture, CAD/PLM, simulation, analytics platforms) and enterprise systems (PLM).
- Ensure solutions maintain data integrity, traceability, and support the division’s digital thread objectives.
- AI/ML & Analytics:
- Oversee the development and responsible deployment of AI/ML solutions that improve engineering first‑time quality and increase productivity. Utilize analytics to provide insight across descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics. Prioritize integration of AI/ML approaches where they accelerate insight, improve accuracy, and enable automated decisioning.
- Establish and enforce model governance, validation, monitoring, and reproducibility practices, including data lineage, versioning, performance metrics, bias assessment, and production monitoring (MLOps).
- Cross-functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Engage SMEs, Technical Fellowship, senior leadership, and external partners (internal Boeing organizations and industry vendors) to ensure alignment and accelerate capability adoption by seeking synergy on strategy and clearly conveying roadmaps.
- Assist the Digital Transformation Senior Manager in communicating technical strategy, roadmap, and outcomes to executive stakeholders.
- Workforce Development & Culture:
- Prioritize team career development, training, and retention; recruit needed skills for capability maturation and deployment.
- Foster an inclusive, psychologically safe environment where team members raise quality, safety, and schedule issues proactively.
- Process & Tooling:
- Guide and support the team to establish engineering standards, CI/CD, MLOps practices, and data management policies for the digital capabilities portfolio.
- Lead efforts to document, train, and support users across the division to maximize tool utilization and ROI.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Oklahoma City, OK.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
