About the team

At Payrix, we’re leading the charge in Payments Facilitation (PayFac) by delivering seamless and efficient solutions. As we continue to expand, our new team, focused on Chargebacks and ACH returns, is looking for a mid-level Software Engineer who’s ready to tackle the complexities of event-driven systems, data persistence, and microservices.

What you’ll own

Our Chargebacks and ACH Returns team plays a critical role in managing the integrity and efficiency of our payment systems. We are focused on building scalable, reliable services using modern technologies, with a strong emphasis on improving observability and testability across the platform.

As a Software Engineer in our Chargebacks and ACH Returns team, you will work with technologies like TypeScript, PHP, and AWS Lambda to build robust systems that support high-quality financial transactions. You’ll leverage design patterns like the Saga Pattern or Event-Sourcing for an ActiveMQ-based system that drives data persistence in a distributed payments process. Your work will directly impact critical functionalities such as Chargebacks and ACH returns, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and security.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain systems using TypeScript, PHP, and AWS Lambda for processing Chargebacks and ACH returns.

• Implement design patterns such as Saga Pattern or Event Sourcing for managing data persistence in a distributed event-driven architecture.

• Create new entries in the ledger as needed for Chargebacks and ACH returns in an ActiveMQ-based system.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to migrate existing behaviors from PHP-based systems to independent microservices using C#.

• Enhance observability and testability to meet best-in-class standards for system performance and reliability.

• Address challenges involving logical/application-level transactions across the system.

What you bring

• BA/BS or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

• 3+ years of software development experience, with proficiency in TypeScript, PHP, and AWS Lambda.

• Familiarity with design patterns such as Saga Pattern, Event Sourcing, or similar for distributed data persistence.

• Experience working with event-driven architectures and ActiveMQ.

• Strong understanding of logical transactions and application-level transactions.

• Experience with observability and testability improvements in complex systems.

Desired Experience (not required):

• Experience with C# and microservice architecture for building independent services.

• Familiarity with AWS services, including Lambda and event-driven solutions.

• Exposure to financial systems, Chargebacks, ACH returns, or similar fintech experience.
