The Laboratory for Cognition and Neural Stimulation (LCNS) is a cutting-edge noninvasive brain stimulation lab using transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial electrical stimulation (tES) to advance the fields of cognitive neurology and cognitive neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania, Perelman School of Medicine.https://www.med.upenn.edu/lcns/
Our mission is to study structure function relationships in the brain that give rise to cognition and healthy brain function and to translate the knowledge gained from that work into the development of novel therapies to treat patients with cognitive deficits that are a result of stroke and neurodegenerative disease.
Job Description
The LCNS under the direction of Dr. H.Branch Coslett is looking for a full-time Clinical Research Coordinator whose primary role is the organization and collection of data, and administration of brain stimulation for multiple language focused clinical trials and research studies. The research coordinator will be responsible for all aspects of clinical trial coordination including subject recruitment, detailed data entry, study visits (administration of behavioral therapy/tests of language function), brain stimulation (TMS and tES) administration, and study follow-up.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform required research activities per protocol and in accordance with Good Clinical Practices.
- Scheduling subject visits within appropriate window, ensuring all tests and assessments at each visit are performed.
- Administer noninvasive brain stimulation (TMS and tES) to patients enrolled in clinical trials.
- Administer, score, and interpret neuropsychological tests of language and report timely, accurate data.
- Schedule, coordinate, and collect MRI data.
- Report adverse events and ensuring appropriate follow ups.
- Maintain clinical trial databases, subject files, and regulatory documents.
- Assist with manuscript preparation and data analysis.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science and 1 to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in cognitive sciences, neurosciences, psychology, communication disorders, or linguistics is required.
- Experience working in a hospital or clinical setting is highly preferred.
- Applicants must be well-organized, have high attention to detail, and be able to flexibly manage diverse responsibilities.
- Applicants must work well as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working with persons that have cognitive and communication impairments is preferred.
- Experience with EPIC and REDcap is highly preferred.
- Prior brain stimulation experience is highly preferred.
Position requires a highly motivated, detail oriented, and confident individual with interests in psycholinguistics, neuromodulation, or therapeutics. The ability to communicate with patients, physicians, medical staff, and caregivers respectfully and effectively is essential. Strong planning, organizational, and prioritizing capabilities along with problem solving skills
