GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the Director of Learning Design, the Senior Learning Designer is primarily responsible for course development and design. This position involves a blend of course design with a strong focus on the practical application of best practices for teaching, learning, and the integration of Generative AI in higher education.

Requirements

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

[75%] Design and Develop Online Courses

• Develop new courses in alignment with the established development queue and institutional guidelines.
• Integrate generative AI technologies where appropriate to enhance learning experiences.
• Create authentic assignments and assessments that align with course learning outcomes.
• Continuously review and improve existing online courses to enhance engagement, effectiveness, and accessibility.
• Complete assigned courses, which typically number around 24 courses per year.

[10%] Course and Contractor Administration

• Support the Director of Learning Design in the administration of course processes and remote Learning Designer scheduling and review.

[10%] Training and Course Review

• Assist in training remote Learning Designers on course processes.
• Reviewing course outlines, design documents, and builds in Moodle.
• Support creating processes and tutorials.

[5%] Contribute to the strategic evolution of the COL.

• Actively participate in and meaningfully contribute to strategic discussions and ongoing planning processes related to the COL.
• Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Learning Design.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/ABILITIES FOR THE JOB

• Proven experience in AI driven course design 
• Extensive experience with Learning Management Systems (Moodle preferred)
• Experience with a variety of authoring or web design software/tools
• Basic knowledge of HTML editing
• Proficiency in written and verbal communications.
• Demonstrated knowledge of online and adult learning methodologies.
• Experience with outcomes assessment and alignment.
• Ability to organize and support cross-functional team activities.
• Experience in research and presentation/publication of results.
• Demonstrated adherence to accessibility standards and Universal Design principles.
• Customer service focus and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to be adaptable within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Ability to collaborate in a virtual environment
• Ability to work independently
