Software Engineer - Sensors

Hivemapper is a decentralized global mapping data network built by 10s of thousands of people. 2024 will see us 10x the number of contributors to the network.
3D edge detections, high-resolution imagery, GNSS, IMU, etc. are automatically offloaded for further offline processing and analysis (sensor fusion, 3D reconstruction, ML, human-in-the-loop, etc.). Today, different data API products allow transparent and programmatic access for anyone to consume high-resolution imagery and sensor data, precisely extracted Map Features (speed signs, turn restrictions, highway signs, etc.). New data products for traffic, construction detection, and more are starting to become available throughout the year.
Enterprise tech, mapping, robotaxis, rideshares, and real estate represent just a few of the customers consuming data today. Our work is fast-paced, collaborative, and data-driven. 

Sensors & Embedded Applications

• The Sensors & Embedded Applications team is responsible for the underpinnings of our high-level embedded dashcam and sensor software, mobile applications, and edge compute solutions, including running ML and binocular disparity on devices

Responsibilities

• Build embedded applications, high-level sensor drivers, sensor fusion pipelines, and computer vision systems that run on devices.
• Architect localization and positioning strategies utilizing a vast array of sensors and both online and offline techniques.
• Use a data-driven approach to crafting positioning strategies internally and externally with technology partners.
• Write high quality software that takes advantage of hardware paths when possible

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of GNSS, IMUs, magnetometers, and cameras
• Demonstrated experience with sensor fusion
• Hands-on Linux OS development experience for embedded systems
• Proficiency in C or C++ and at least one of Python, Typescript, Node.JS, or Go

Nice to Haves

• Experience with PPK/RTK solutions
• Experience with LTE
• Experience with ADAS, AV, Mapping, etc.
• Electrical/Mechanical Engineering knowledge to lean on
• Experience with ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, OpenVINO, ONNX, etc.)
