Job Description

The Shift Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring the performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of the BEUMER Individual Carrier System (ICS) within airport baggage handling operations. This role supports the Site Manager by handling Operations & Maintenance technical matters, coordinating maintenance intervals, and supervising maintenance activities. The Shift Supervisor ensures that established procedures are followed, updates procedures and manuals as needed, and recommends corrective actions—driving them to resolution when necessary.

When the Site Manager is unavailable, the Shift Supervisor serves as the primary point of contact for the customer. This role will support the BEUMER Individual Carrier System (ICS) at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe work practices by enforcing all safety policies, conducting routine safety checks, and mentoring technicians on proper procedures and hazard awareness.
  • Support employee scheduling by assisting with shift planning, task allocation, and coverage coordination to maintain adequate operational and maintenance staffing.
  • Communicate clearly and accurately with team members, leadership, and customer representatives regarding system status, maintenance activities, and operational impacts.
  • Implement preventive and corrective maintenance activities to maintain system effectiveness and asset reliability.
  • Plan, schedule, and execute corrective and preventive maintenance tasks in alignment with OEM and site requirements.
  • Verify adherence to preventive maintenance schedules, ensuring checklists, documentation, and system logs are properly updated.
  • Conduct routine and random inspections of the ICS equipment to identify potential issues and ensure system readiness.
  • Provide continuous on-shift supervision of maintenance operations to ensure work quality, safety, and procedural compliance.
  • Respond to major stoppages requiring equipment expertise; identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Coordinate with the remote Hotline for software-related support and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Lead maintenance troubleshooting during breakdowns and operational disruptions.
  • Manage spare parts usage and inventory, including consumption tracking, reorder requests, and storage organization to support operational continuity.
  • Develop staff competency by delivering regular training, coaching, and technical mentoring to maintain required technician skill levels.
  • Monitor, diagnose, and support system servers (e.g., MICS and CSC) as required.
  • Provide technical clarification and detailed support to team members and customer stakeholders when needed.
  • Prepare and submit monthly breakdown statistics and system performance summaries to the Site Manager.
  • Report spare‑parts consumption trends and assist in forecasting needs based on usage patterns.
  • Record and track all warranty-related parts and activities in accordance with site processes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Site Manager to support site operations.

Compensation Range: $35.00-$38.31 hourly

The posted range reflects the compensation the company reasonably expects to offer for this position. Actual compensation will not be less than the posted minimum and will be based on multiple factors.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred Associate degree or technical certification in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience with Supervision of large teams focused around automated material handling systems, preferably within airport or logistics environments.
  • Understanding of automated systems; proficiency in MS Office, CMMS platforms, and payroll Software.
  • Must be eligible for, obtain, and maintain an Airside Pass (Security Clearance).
