This position is grant funded with funding secured through September 2029. This position will begin August 12, 2025.
INSTRUCTOR (salary range - $49,383.87- $57,639.34 annually):
SCOPE OF WORK: To educate students and develop curricula within all areas of the Computer Science Department at MCC, contributing to the goals and operations of the Center for Biofabrication and Advanced Manufacturing (CBAM). This position shall report to the Chairperson of the Department of Computer Science.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Teaches a variety of courses and develops curricula in the areas teaching a broad range of topics across the computer science and information technology spectrum, including 3D environments, programming, and cloud technologies, with a focus on aligning academic programs with workforce training needs, industry standards, and the objectives of the Center for Biofabrication and Advanced Manufacturing.
- Primary teaching areas may include: Programming in Java, Python, and C#, including GUI application development; 3D modeling concepts and asset creation, with a focus on educational/training platforms, Networking Fundamentals including 5G, security, and troubleshooting, Application of cloud technologies with emphasis on Microsoft Azure.
- Prepares instructional materials that comply with established course content, integrate theory with applications, clearly define course goals, observes program and institutional accreditations standards, promote critical thinking and life skills, and responds to diverse academic needs.
- Establishes sound classroom practices and management that responds to diverse academic needs and maintains accessibility and availability to assist students with their diverse academic and workforce needs with the Center’s objectives.
- Observes all academic policies and procedures and institutional rules and regulations.
- Oversees student learning activities and academic progress and maintains accurate records of student progress and accomplishments and interprets these to students.
- Participates in departmental activities and supports departmental operations by attending meetings, maintaining educational equipment and spaces, preparing requisitions for instructional equipment, supplies or classroom materials, participating in course and program reviews, contributing to departmental initiatives, and maintaining contact with business and industry within the specialized field of instruction.
- Participates in professional activities related to the interdisciplinary areas of the Center for Biofabrication and Advanced Manufacturing and across the college ensuring the integration of Computer Science curriculum that connect the college with the wider community. Serves on college or system teams, or participating in community-sponsored events, as assigned, representing the Center in professional forums.
- Remains technologically and pedagogically current within the specialized fields of Computer Science through participation in relevant professional associations and education and training activities. Utilizes appropriate instructional and administrative technologies as required for teaching effectiveness and college operations/communications to stay at the forefront of developments in advanced manufacturing.
- Observes all academic policies and procedures and institutional rules and regulations and demonstrates ethical and professional behavior.
- Complies with all system, college, campus, state, and federal rules and regulations in the execution of responsibilities.
