Global Supply Chain Strategy Lead (Director) – Oncology

This role will preferably be based in Philadelphia, PA US, Durham, NC US, Rockville, MA US, or Waltham, MA US, but can also be based at other GSK strategic locations on a case-by-case basis.

The role of this GSC Strategy Lead is to develop and maintain a comprehensive product lifecycle strategy for the end-to-end supply chain that aligns both short- & long-term strategic goals (commercial sourcing, growth, risk mitigation, cost) across the Global Supply Chain.

Reporting into the GSC Strategy (Oncology) Senior Director, the GSC Strategy Lead independently develops the strategy for a portfolio of brands, effectively managing risk, cost and other challenges. The GSC Strategy Lead makes evidence-based recommendations up to the GSC Leadership Team (LT), provides technical expertise and utilizes comprehensive brand strategy to influence and guide key stakeholders across the business. The GSC Strategy Lead successfully works within matrix teams (including CMC/R&D, Manufacturing/Supply Planning, Quality, Regulatory, MSAT, Marketing, and Sales) to ensure that GSK products deliver the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficacy, while also maximizing customer satisfaction and profitability.  At GSK, you will have the opportunity to be part of a focused biopharma company with strong momentum and big ambitions, to unite science, technology and talent to get ahead of disease together and an aim to positively impact the health of 2.5 billion people by the end of the decade.

The GSC Strategy Lead should demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the biopharmaceutical industry, inclusive of strengths in technical understanding (biopharmaceuticals, sterile manufacture, devices and external manufacturing, S&OP processes), strategic decision making, scenario planning, financial analysis, Cost of Goods analysis, business case development (make vs. buy) and risk assessment / mitigation planning.

In this role you will:

  • Work with Global Commercial and R&D teams to understand and challenge the ambition for your brands – recognizing key risks, issues & sensitivities, and then translating this into a GSC Strategy for each product across the 0 – 10-year timeframe.
  • Chair the Product Strategy LT for individual brands.
  • Be accountable for the Product Strategy Document and leading delivery at a brand level to ensure stakeholders can measure performance.
  • Deliver deep dives and site impact assessments. 
  • Hold individuals accountable and take corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of short- medium term objectives.
  • Review 10-year annual long-range forecasts (sales and volume) for individual brands and makes proposals relating to investment and capacity decisions.
  • Support Global New Product Launch Initiatives
  • Independently develop and foster key relationships across the organisation.

Required qualifications and skills:

  • Degree qualified or able to demonstrate equivalent level of knowledge.
  • Considerable experience in a senior supply chain leader role, preferably with both new product development and commercialisation activities in biopharma and/or oncology.
  • Substantial knowledge of business and external marketplace developments. Uses these insights to inform decision making and shape and drive critical activities.
