POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Equipment Engineer II is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and process optimization of all equipment and tools used in the cleanroom (ISO 5) and department laboratory. This includes performing repairs, preventive maintenance, installations, qualifications, and troubleshooting of cleanroom and laboratory equipment, systems, and components to ensure minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

• B.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing process equipment and components in a cleanroom environment.
• Ability to read and write maintenance literature printed in English.
• Experience with and ability to read blueprints.
• Basic Microsoft Office computer-based skills.
• Ability to follow clean room gowning protocols and move throughout the facility.

IDEAL COMPETENCIES

• Hands-on experience with the installation, qualification, and maintenance of semiconductor-related equipment such as CVD, PVD, Lithography, Etching, and metrology tools, is preferred.
• Proficiency in installing, troubleshooting and resolving issues related to electrical, mechanical and vacuum systems.
• Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer functions.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Ability to participate in after hours on-call rotation.
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, or in a group.
• Ability to follow specific directions.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

• Lead the installation, commissioning, and qualification of equipment and tools in the cleanroom and laboratory space.
• Operate, repair, overhaul, service, and maintain equipment in all areas of the cleanroom and laboratory.
• Enable and ensure compliance with cleanroom protocols, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
• Prepare preventive maintenance work instructions and SOPs for cleanroom and laboratory equipment and components as needed.
• Perform regularly scheduled preventive maintenance work on equipment and maintain equipment performance and repair records.
• Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues and optimize equipment performance.
• Work on designing and implementing mechanical or electrical alterations to new and existing equipment to improve efficiency, performance, and extend the life of equipment as needed.
• Work on ensuring that all equipment and maintenance standards meet all regulatory compliance requirements mandated by local, state, and federal agencies.
• Maintain cleanrooms and other areas, including performing filter changes.
• Responsible for maintaining cleanroom and laboratory space by removing chemical waste as needed and scheduling chemical waste pickup.
