Job Title: Mold Setter

Type of Position: Full-Time

Reports to: Department Manager

FLSA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt

Hourly Rate: $17.00 - $22.00

SUMMARY: The mold setter is responsible for removing and setting all molds and auxiliary equipment as needed for maintaining all production and is required to comply with all company standard operating procedures of Heartland Automotive.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Checks with supervisor for verification of the status of the molds that must be installed or removed during each shift.
  • Removes molds from press after shutdown is completed.
  • Returns all molds, fixtures and auxiliary equipment to their proper storage location in the plant.
  • Follows 3S3D and TS16949 procedures
  • Sets all molds and auxiliary equipment per the mold set-up instructions and mold set-up procedure.
  • Connects all water lines, hydraulics and electrical connections to all molds and equipment at start-up including thermolators, chillers and other related equipment.
  • Connects all knockout and ejector bars as needed.
  • Cleans all set-up tools, equipment and any spilled water.
  • Follows all safety procedures.
  • Efficiently manages time and completing all tasks assigned.
  • Reports damage, defects and other issues pertaining to molding non-conformances to supervisors.
  • Ensuring the compliance of all company policies and the Occupational Safety and health administration rules (OSHA) while conducting work functions.
  • Must be able to adapt to various job requirements in the changing automotive world.
  • Must be assigned to other jobs as production needs change.

Preferred Experience:

  • 3 Years of Manufacturing Experience
  • 2 Years of Plastics Injection Molding Experience

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as: probability and statistical inference, and ability to apply concepts such as: fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Must have the ability to use micrometers, gauges and other related equipment. Must be able to read and understand work instructions.

Computer Skills:

  • Ability to read and understand standard work written in English

Physical Demands:

  • Required to Stand, Walk, Sit, Talk, and Hear
  • Plant is Not Climate-Controlled
  • May be Required to Lift and/or Move up to 50 Pounds Daily
