In the Cyber Operations & Analysis Technology Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, we research challenging technical problems in cyber security, develop new technologies, and prototype first-of-a-kind systems. We have particular focus on enabling human operators and improving operational systems, orienting our work toward strong practical impact.
We work across a variety of cutting-edge national-security applications:
- Enhancing the cyber security and resilience of critical infrastructure and other operational technology
- Quantifying risk posed by adversary cyber threats to key national security missions
- Helping the nation’s cyber operators do their jobs better, faster, and at greater scale
- Creating game-changing capabilities for defensive cyberspace operations
- Protecting and defending emerging U.S. systems for conducting Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2)
- Developing techniques to coordinate actions for emerging mission scenarios combining cyber and other mission domains such as air, land, sea, and space

Job Description:
Rapid military decision-making and execution across all domains of operations have long been a goal for the Department of Defense. This concept is known today as Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) and achieving it is a top priority for national defense. Urgent technical problems at intersection of cyber and JADC2 include improving the cyber security and resilience of JADC2 architectures, enabling the active cyber defense of JADC2 systems, and integrating cyber warfare with other domains at mission-relevant speed and scale.
As a JADC2 system architect in the Cyber Operations & Analysis Technology Group, you will be at the forefront of conceiving, developing, and delivering technical solutions to these cyber problems within JADC2. For the cyber mission area, you and your team will analyze mission needs, architect and prototype novel solutions to meet those mission needs, and provide subject-matter expertise to the government. You will bring the cyber perspective to JADC2 efforts across the government by partnering with other JADC2 efforts at Lincoln Laboratory. You will communicate the results of these efforts to sponsors and other audiences. You will also contribute to group strategy in JADC2 and help identify new opportunities for the group to have positive technical impact in the area.
Requirements:
You should apply if you have the following:
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical field; or a Master’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant technical experience; or a Bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years of relevant technical experience.
- Experience applying your technical expertise to problems in national security for U.S. government sponsors.
- Proficiency in Python, C/C++, Java, or similar.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including technical communication for non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on difficult, open-ended problems with interdisciplinary technical teams.
Desired but not Required:
Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Technical contributions toward the most recent generation of JADC2 concepts, architectures, and systems.
- Research in cyber security and resilience.
- Cyberspace operations, mission or research.
