*** Only candidates with a background in legal or immigration matters and extensive experience in legal writing—such as cover letters, declarations, Requests for Evidence (RFEs), or Notices of Intent to Deny (NOIDs)—will be considered for this position.****
Position Overview
The RFE Cover Letter Writer will responsibly and reliably draft legal cover letters in response to Requests for Evidence (RFEs) issued by USCIS. Throughout this process, the RFE Cover Letter Writer will review all available case materials, follow instructions drafted by attorneys, and communicate as necessary to draft high-level, professional legal writing. A strong attention to detail and experience with drafting and proofreading documents are characteristics of an ideal candidate. This candidate must be fluent in English, both speaking and writing.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
Meet approved standards of guidelines and expectations for RFE written cover letters on a consistent basis
Meet approved standards of guidelines and expectations for RFE requested revisions (within 24 business hours)
Utilize a variety of materials to compose high-level legal arguments (including both original and supplemental declarations, letters of support, medical records, police reports, background checks, etc..)
Review and amend forms to cross-check for potential issues within a client’s case
Thoroughly proofread RFE drafted cover letters to ensure they are accurate, complete, and free of errors
Attend daily huddles with the Team Leads to obtain stylistic updates and share learnings
Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned by management
Essential Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Possesses excellent English interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Prior understanding of all pertinent immigration case types (T-visa, U-Visa, Med DA, VAWA)
Strong computer literacy
Strong attention to detail
Highly motivated with a strong determination to help the underdog
Highly accountable and proactive with communication among the team and cross-functional partners
Strong organizational skills and adaptability to changes in a fast-paced environment
Proven ability to meet deadlines and time manage themselves
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma (or equivalent) required, with legal education or certification preferred
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
2 years experience in fields related to immigration law
1 year experience in legal writing
