As a Lead Accounting Coordinator under limited supervision, you will analyze and record transactions, processes approved cost items for timely payment, ensure proper recording/classification of transactions and resolve issues related to open item gaining of general ledger accounts.

  • Record journal entries, performs reconciliations, and makes adjustments and/or corrections as necessary.
  • Process feedstock/finished product purchases and sales for timely payment.
  • Coordinate and work with more complex internal customers, external customers, and vendors to ensure proper recording/classification of transactions, verify accuracy of pricing and volumes, and review and ensure compliance with customer and vendor contracts and deal sheet terms.
  • Perform month-end closing duties to ensure accurate financial reporting (e.g., review accounts receivable/payable, reporting, etc.).
  • Review EMTS/LCFS workbench and coordinates with the internal and external vendors/customers to ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to the Product Transfer Documents.
  • Generate submissions of Renewable Identification Number as part of the U.S. EPA’s Renewable Fuel Standard requirements for renewable fuel producers.
  • Provide SAP technical expertise and training, and subject matter expertise related to the low carbon fuel compliance programs for the Operations Accounting team
  • Assist with special projects for management or other operational areas as needed.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

 

Qualifications:

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero San Antonio location, required.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 8+ years of experience in Accounting.

Preferred Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s or higher level degree - in Accounting preferred.
  • Refinery or related experience preferred.
