The Digital Hub in Seattle focusses on developing a cloud architecture and building out the cloud platform for the next generation of connected car services. The Testing and Regulatory Affairs Division in Ann Arbor and the Advanced Vehicle Design in Carlsbad complete the competence center.
The Technical Compliance and OBD Certifcation Intern is part of a cross-functional team that supports fuel consumption, emissions and OBD certification and compliance testing for the US market. We are seeking a talented and motivated summer intern to assist in the creation and enhancement of code that interacts with measurement, calibration, and diagnostic software. The ideal candidate will have a passion for software development, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work with complex systems.
In this position, you will get insights into the US certification process and will help the team to improve existing processes. Our ideal candidate is pursuing a Master's Degree, and available to intern from June to December. This position is fully on-site in Long Beach, CA, Monday through Friday - no remote or hybrid arrangements are possible. Relocation assistance (domestic or international) is not provided for this position.

Job Responsibilities:
- General support in regard to AECD documentation and OBD Certification topics.
- Support of the team by creating and maintaining VBA-based documentation and evaluation files.
- Support new tool development based on the requirements.
- Analyze data, summarize results, and prepare technical reports for internal development partners.
- Support collaboration within MBRDNA on common projects and objectives.
- Collaborate with the compliance team to understand requirements and specifications for code development.
- Assist in the creation and optimization of Python scripts to manipulate data and generate reports.
- Create and maintain data visualization dashboard using Power BI or similar tools.
- Troubleshoot and debug existing code to ensure functionality and reliability.
- Utilize Python libraries such as Pandas, Matplotlib, Openpyxl, and others for data manipulation, visualization, and Excel file handling.
- Develop and maintain clear and concise documentation for the codebase and scripts.
- Work closely with team members to test, review, and implement software changes or improvements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Pursuing a Masters degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science or related field.
- Familiarity with software development methodologies and practices.
- Prior experience or coursework in Python programming and data manipulation.
- Proficient in Python programming language with experience in writing efficient and maintainable code.
- Familiarity with libraries and frameworks commonly used in data manipulation and analysis such as Pandas, Matplotlib, NumPy, and Openpyxl.
- Understanding of software development concepts including debugging, version control (e.g., Git), and best practices.
- Equipped with problem-solving skills and a solution oriented mindset.
- Attention to detail in coding and data handling.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Ability to act and perform under every circumstances with personal integrity and represent the certification values.
- Experience with VBA and Excel, or other programming skills.
- Experience basic documentation principles.
- Detail-oriented mindset.
- Ability to execute and develop detailed documentation.
- Ability to learn and understand different technical topics fast and being able to discuss and explain it to internal stakeholders.
