We are currently seeking a Principal Planner to join our team based in Houston, TX.

About the Job

Work without supervision to prepare and monitor plans, schedules, and earned value progress measurements for projects of all sizes and complexities. 

Regularly manage a team of schedulers and planners to prepare and monitor the plans, schedules, and earned value progress measurements on projects. Typical project types include Engineering Studies, Process Design Packages (PDP), Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), Basic Design Packages (BDP), Detailed Engineering & Procurement (EP), and Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC) efforts. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Development and monitoring of both summary level and detailed schedules. 
  • Plan, setup, and guide interactive planning sessions for projects of all sizes and complexities.
  • Ensure the interactive planning session is successful in obtaining buy-in from all the stakeholders in the project plan and schedule. 
  • Responsible for the output of the interactive planning session. Direct the setup and monitoring of physical earned progress. 
  • Review work products of all schedulers and planners on the project and occasionally provide peer reviews of work products on multiple projects. 
  • Present schedule status to project leaders, department managers, and executive management.
  • Extensive interface with project management, engineering discipline leaders, engineering management, procurement management, construction management, and subcontracts. 
  • Organize and manage the project schedule status meetings. 
  • Lead development of department initiatives related to planning tools, go-by schedule and progress measurement templates, procedures, guidelines, and work methods. 
  • Manage other schedulers and planners on a project and occasionally multiple small projects. 
  • Mentor other schedulers and planners directly and indirectly. 
  • Ensure the Planning & Scheduling project team follows all department procedures, guidelines, tools, and work methods. If deviations from standard procedures, guidelines, tools, or work methods are required, work with the Planning & Scheduling department manager to obtain approval.

About You

Must Have Skills:

  • Self-motivated and detail oriented professional
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work under time pressure
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and presentation skills
  • Advanced skills with MS Excel software
  • Extensive experience with Primavera P6 scheduling software
  • Experience using Primavera P6 in a collaborative environment with suppliers, partners, subcontractors, or clients.
  • Extensive experience with scheduling and progress measurement of the engineering, procurement, and construction work processes
  • Experience with multi-office execution and module fabrication yard execution
  • Significant experience with Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) execution approach
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • Minimum of 15 years of planning & scheduling experience in the energy industry

 

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • Extensive experience with multi-office execution and module fabrication yard execution
  • Experience working on a field construction site or in a module yard fabrication facility
  • Working knowledge of MS Access software
  • Working knowledge of MS Power BI software
  • Significant
