LEO Lecturer I - BIO 432 - College of Innovation & Technology - Onsite

The University of Michigan-Flint invites applications for a part-time faculty position at the Lecturer I level for the period of January 5, 2026 through April 25, 2026.  The position entails teaching one section of a 3-contact hour undergraduate course, the lecture section of BIO 432 - Mammalian Physiology with the catalog description:

Detailed study of organ and organ-system function in mammals; emphasis on human function. Lecture and laboratory. Graded ABCDE, and as per a recent syllabus for the course, the following learning objectives and outcomes:

1. Describe the function of physiological systems (cardiovascular; respiratory; urinary; muscular;

digestive; and nervous) and how these systems function to maintain homeostasis.

2. Understand how these physiologic systems integrate to maintain organismal homeostasis.

3. Discuss how pathologies can alter the physiologic functions of these systems and ultimately affect organismal homeostasis.

4. Analyze and communicate scientific data/information.

5. Critically assess scientific literature.

The course meets MW 12:30pm - 1:45pm, January 5, 2026 through April 25, 2026, on the University of Michigan-Flint campus.  The budget for this position is for the Winter 2026 term only. 

Qualifications

Prospective candidates must have at least a master's degree in a relevant or closely related medically-oriented field of biology, with a Ph.D. preferred. Candidates should also demonstrate a strong record of teaching excellence across face-to-face, online, and experiential formats, with prior experience in higher education strongly preferred.

Modes of Work

Onsite

The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence.  Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan.

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.  Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment.
