Position Overview:
- Assists Medical Director, Administrative Director, or Lead Physician in facilitating development, support and management of NP/PA/CNM department, including all activities related to direct and facilitated patient care, admission, daily medical care, improving patient throughput, early patient discharge, patient and staff education, hospital task forces, and patient satisfaction.
- Identifies problems and barriers with NP, PA, or CNM models of health care delivery and develops solutions in collaboration with other stakeholders. Provides clinical expertise for group.
- Develops and strengthens relationships with various stakeholders including other clinical Lead APPs, medical team attending physicians, primary care physicians, network providers, key decision makers, and site functional team members.
- Provides overall clinical supervision, including creating schedules, assigning work, training and evaluating in accordance with Capital Health's respective policies and procedures. Interviews and recommends hiring of NPs, PAs, and CNMs in collaboration with Medical Director, Administrative Director, or Lead Physician, or their designee. Conducts annual performance evaluations of staff and recommends disciplinary measures when necessary.
- Models appropriate judgment in follow-up of patient care issues, including use of physician, nursing and administrative chain of command. Models effective leadership behaviors. Facilitates learning for other staff to become more effective in their role.
- Assures maximal effectiveness and efficiency of staffing plan for model or program, including experience, skill mix, and scheduling. Develops staffing systems which respond effectively and quickly to changes in patient volume, acuity or service demands.
- Uses a variety of data and information resources to assess evolving program requirements and evaluate program performance. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to assess, redesign and continually improve effectiveness and productivity of clinical programs.
- Actively participates with Quality Management in development and implementation process improvements. Monitors competency, documentation and outcomes of care provided by NPs, PAs, or CNMs. Identifies ways to facilitate working relationships among all levels of staff to meet patient care requirements.
- Participates actively in and leads discussion of quality results and patient feedback, problem solving and development of plans to improve quality of care and service. Follows up and supports efforts of colleagues to implement improvement action plans.
- Identifies annual learning needs of staff. Develops and oversees orientation plans for newly hired NPs, PAs, or CNMs. Develops department level education, including in-services and teaching materials. Promotes professional and academic development of staff.
- Provides coaching and team building to increase employee productivity and satisfaction. Serves as a resource to staff for problem solving.
- Develops policies and procedures related to patient care by following established applicable best practice guidelines.
- Serves as an active, regular, and productive participant. Works with other leadership, process improvement and operations teams.
- Attends meetings and participates in committees as assigned.
- Handles administrative aspects of payroll or delegates duties to Physician Office Manager as needed. Approves CME requests, PTO requests. Supervises other day to day activities of Advanced Practice Provider team.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Graduate of an accredited midwifery program with certificate of nurse-midwifery.
- Three years of experience as a Certified Nurse Midwife
- License, Nurse Midwife - NJ
