Job Summary

The Fresh Foods Buyer must possess strong leadership skills. The position impacts all aspects of the fresh department across multiple locations.  This position would assist in achieving gross margins and work closely with department directors.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Managing every day and seasonal assortments of products for all store locations.
  • Create and maintain a detailed marketing and item analysis to ensure optimum profit levels and achieve the Annual Operating Plan.
  • Develop key strategies in pricing to drive business sales, while analyzing market trends to drive new and existing items.
  • Manage the departments overall profitability to ensure it aligns with annual operating plan and adjust as needed.
  • Encompass perishable departments major buying and be involved with any and all contracts.
  • Assist with helping achieve gross margins in the departments with paying close attention to market pricing and making the appropriate buys.
  • Examine, select, order, and purchase at the most favorable price merchandise consistent with quality, quantity, and specification requirements.
  • Identify suppliers, select merchandise, and negotiate bills of sale for a business.
  • Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, quantitative analysis, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and coordination of resources.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Communicate information accurately and appropriately.
  • Ability to travel within the state of WI, of up to 50% of the time.
  • Saturdays are considered part of the work week.

WORK SCHEDULE

The Fresh Foods Buyer is a full-time position. The work schedule will include mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
