Job Summary:

Join a team of innovative, critical-thinking RNs ranging from new grads up to 20+ years. Supported by experienced leadership. United Cardiac Intermediate Care is a collaborative team environment dedicated to continuous learning. This tele/stepdown unit is comprised of 32 beds, focused on Cardiac with an average length of stay of 2-6 days.

Key Position Details:

The Cardiac Medicine unit is a 44 bed unit with the average length of stay is 2-6 days. It is a great unit to build a strong core foundation in med surg and telemetry. The Cardiac Medicine unit sees patients that have procedural cardiac interventions such as NSTEMI requiring cardiac interventions, pacemakers, cardioversions, cardiac ablations, and Watchman procedures. Patients needing medical management of A-fib, and congestive heart failure. Patients may also be admitted for other medical or surgical conditions that require cardiac monitoring on a hard-wired telemetry unit (sepsis, overdose, pneumonia, COPD, pulmonary embolism, acute kidney injury). There is a mix of new grads RNs, those with 5+ years of experience, and very experienced nurses (20-30 years). Staff are passionate about bedside nursing, share their knowledge and help each other learn. A family-like culture where the team recognizes and celebrates each other's accomplishments and life events! Preceptors ensure new grad RNs are set up for success at the start of their careers with a thorough orientation. There are leadership opportunities for nurses to be involved with unit council, hospital-wide committees, educating, precepting, as well as moving into charge nurse, etc. Cardiac Medicine has 8 and 12 hour shifts available.

Tier 1: 1 year of telemetry experience in an acute care setting.
Tier 2: 1 year of RN experience in an acute care setting.
Tier 3: 1 year of RN experience preferred.  Would consider new graduate nurse

  • 0.9 FTE (72 hours per two-week pay period)
  • 12-hour day/night shifts
  • Every 3rd weekend rotation

Job Description:

Nursing is the diagnosis and treatment of human response to actual or potential health problems. This includes establishing an intentional therapeutic relationship between a registered nurse and a patient and family. As a leader and the integrator of care, the professional nurse has the responsibility, authority, and accountability for planning, coordinating and evaluating the patient’s care needs.

Specializes in the care of patients who suffer from various conditions of the cardiovascular system.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive assessment of patient and family needs; identification of outcomes based on needs assessment; establishing the plan of care; supervising the progress; and modification of the plan of care as needed.
  • Maintains education and competencies to remain proficient to provide high quality patient care practice and skills.
  • Incorporates evidence-based nursing practice taking into consideration current statutes, rules and regulations when developing the plan of care.
  • Establishes, in the collaboration with the family and patient, realistic and measurable patient expected outcomes based on nursing diagnoses, patients present and potential capabilities, goals, available resources and plan for continuity of care.
  • Identifies outcomes that are age appropriate, culturally appropriate, realistic and attainable.
  • Coordinates, collaborates, and delegates appropriately to ensure care is provided in a safe, effective fashion.
  • Fulfills all organizational requirements.

      ◦ Demonstrates ability to coordinate, delegate, and direct unit operation, collaborates effectively with unit staff, leadership and other disciplines.
    • Preceptor (only when acting in this role).
      ◦ Demonstrates ability to identify the orientee's learning needs, plans appropriate learning experiences and demonstrates ability to validate clinical competence of orientee.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's or Vocational degree
  • 1-2 years RN experience


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 0 to 2 years cardiac, telemetry, or critical care RN experience
