Position: Regional Medical Gas Specialist Senior

Location: Will cover North Carolina Market

Full Time; 1st Shift

Major Responsibilities:

  • Program Implementation and Oversight: Partners with the Medical Gas Program Manager to ensure consistent rollout and execution of medical gas program initiatives across the designated region. Supports the implementation and compliance of the enterprise permit-to-work system at the facility level.
  • Gas and Vacuum System Code Consulting: Partners with the Medical Gas Program Manager to provide expert consulting on local, state and federal medical gas and vacuum codes, including NFPA standards, ensuring compliance and safety across Advocate Health facilities.  
  • Regional Leadership and Communication: Acts as the primary liaison between the Program Manager and facility-level RFAs in the designated region. Communicates program updates, policy changes, and training requirements. Provides guidance and clarification to ensure consistent interpretation and application of medical gas standards.
  • Facility Support and Technical Guidance: Provides hands-on technical support and oversight to facility RFAs within the designated region. Assists in developing and maintaining maintenance schedules, coordinating vendor services, and responding to emergencies. Offers guidance on troubleshooting, inspections, and repair planning. Supports facility teams in planning and executing medical gas shutdowns, ensuring clear communication with clinical staff, accurate assessment of impacted areas, and proper setup of back-feed systems. Confirms systems are safe and ready before reactivation.
  • Education and Training: Coordinates regional training efforts, including ASSE 6040 certification and renewals. Reinforces enterprise learning modules and provides supplemental training based on regional needs. Mentors facility RFAs and promotes continuous learning.
  • Policies and Procedures: Ensures facility-level adherence to enterprise policies and procedures related to medical gas systems. Provides feedback to the Enterprise Program Manager for continuous improvement and standardization.
  • Data Collection and Reporting: Monitors regional performance metrics, inspection outcomes, and compliance trends. Reports findings to the Enterprise Program Manager and recommends corrective actions or program enhancements.
  • Participates in departments initiatives.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • ​​​​​​​​​Certified Medical Gas Systems Maintainer (ASSE 6040) 

Education Required:

  • ​​​​​Associate or bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent knowledge obtained through years of trade experience.   

Experience Required:

  • 5 years’ experience in healthcare medical gas management 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • ​​​​Working knowledge of medical gas and vacuum systems 
  • Strong technical knowledge of healthcare-specific medical gas and vacuum codes and standards (e.g., CMS, TJC, NFPA 99). 
  • Detail-oriented, demonstrated organizational and time management skills, and ability to manage/prioritize, track, and complete tasks/projects within established deadlines. 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and cultivate strong internal and external relationships.  
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical information in a clear and understandable manner to diverse audiences

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • ​​​​​Ability to conduct site inspections, which may include climbing ladders and accessing spaces such as mechanical rooms, hot locations, both inside and outside of facilities.
