JOB OVERVIEW

The IT Project Manager & Application Support Lead is responsible for planning, establishing, and managing information technology (IT) projects while also overseeing application support and troubleshooting. This role acts as a liaison between business and technical teams, ensuring that IT initiatives align with organizational goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT project management, system implementation, and application support, ensuring smooth operations and optimal system functionality.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Project Management Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and revise project proposals, including objectives, technologies, systems, specifications, timelines, funding, and staffing.
  • Set and track project milestones, manage delays, and adjust schedules and expectations as needed.
  • Establish and implement project communication plans, providing status updates to stakeholders.
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize information and trends for project status reports.
  • Track project scope and changes, ensuring stakeholders are notified of anticipated completion dates.
  • Maintain project timeframes, budgeting estimates, and progress reports.
  • Coordinate project team members and define schedules and individual responsibilities.
  • Implement IT strategies that deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Utilize project management tools to track performance, identify risks, and ensure successful implementation.
  • Provide hands-on support to implement project changes, updates, analysis, and IT delivery.

Application Support & Troubleshooting Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the application support function, ensuring optimal system performance and uptime.
  • Act as a key escalation point for resolving technical issues and system disruptions.
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting and issue resolution for business-critical applications.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to identify and resolve system issues efficiently.
  • Monitor system performance, conduct root cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including user guides and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Assist in testing and validating new system updates, patches, and integrations.
  • Ensure compliance with IT security policies and best practices.
  • Train and support end-users on IT applications, ensuring a seamless user experience.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance system reliability and efficiency.

Team & Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Hire, train, and manage members of the technical and support staff.
  • Assign duties and oversee the workflow of project and support teams.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide mentorship to ensure team success.
  • Handle discipline and terminations in accordance with company policies.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the IT team.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.


Requirements

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in IT project management and application support.
  • Experience in healthcare IT, hospital IT systems, or technology vendors preferred.
  • Agile, Six Sigma, or PMP certifications are highly desirable.
  • Or: High School Diploma and 9+ years of experience in IT project management and application support.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or Agile certification preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Solid understanding of IT project management principles and best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of IT systems, applications, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proven ability to motivate teams and drive projects to completion.
  • Hands-on experience with IT troubleshooting and application support.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Strong customer service skills with a proactive approach to issue resolution.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work is performed in an office or laboratory environment, exposing the incumbent to normal laboratory hazards and chemicals, including biohaza
