About the role
Overview
The Guilford Adult Health Dental Access Program provides dental care to those who are uninsured, 0% - 200% federal poverty level within Guilford County. This is a non-profit, community-based program that works to ensure that all persons have access to quality, comprehensive and affordable healthcare through innovative community partnerships. The Registered Dental Hygienist will work collaboratively with the Dentist(s) to meet the oral health needs of the patients. The Registered Dental Hygienist is a grant-funded position.Talent Pool: Allied Health
Responsibilities
Establish oral health condition: review health history, provide oral cancer screening, head and neck inspections, dental charting of existing restorations, decay and disease, take and process x-rays and other procedures in compliance with the Dental Practice Act.-----------------------------------------------Administer dental prophylaxis by cleaning deposits and stains from teeth and from beneath gum margins; applying preventive materials to the teeth (e.g., sealants and fluoride).-----------------------------------------------Document oral health evaluation, extent of prophylaxis and dental charting in patient record to provide dentist with information for a more complete diagnosis and subsequent treatment, if needed.-----------------------------------------------Educate patients on proper oral hygiene strategies: brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling. Answer patient questions and provide other educational information relevant to oral hygiene.-----------------------------------------------Perform documentation and office management activities: fill in at front desk when needed, complete daily activity sheet, compliance with OSHA requirements.-----------------------------------------------Practice universal precautions and other sterilization and infection control procedures and maintains equipment.-----------------------------------------------Review medical/dental records (as required by the North Carolina Medical/Dental Examiner?s Office) to ensure that documentation is complete, services are appropriate and notation is accurate.-----------------------------------------------Make appropriate referrals, as needed, to oral health specialists.Qualifications
EDUCATION:REQUIRED:Associate's DegreePREFERRED:Bachelor's Degree EXPERIENCE:REQUIRED:1 year of experience; Experience with EMR (electronic medical records) PREFERRED:2 years of experience LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIRED:State-registered Dental HygienistBLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare ProviderValid Driver's License - If driving Cone Health vehicle, must have 5 years of driving experience and MVR must be approved by Risk Management.PREFERRED:Apply for this role
