About the role

Who We Are Airbyte is the open-source standard for EL(T). We enable data teams to replicate data from applications, APIs, and databases to data warehouses, lakes, and other destinations. We believe only an open-source approach can solve the problem of data integration, as it enables us to cover the long tail of integrations while enabling teams to adapt pre-built connectors to their needs.   So far, we've built over 350 connectors and have had 35,000+ companies replicating data with us. We've raised $181M from some of the world's top investors (Benchmark, Accel, Altimeter, Coatue, Y Combinator, etc.) and believe in product-led growth, where we build something awesome and let our product bring the users, rather than an outbound sales engine with cold calls.   Airbyte is remote friendly, with most of the team still based in Silicon Valley. We’re fully transparent as a company. Our company handbookcore valuesmethodologystrategy and roadmap are open to all.   If you find this role exciting, we encourage you to apply even if you think you don’t meet all requirements.

Opportunity

The Airbyte Platform is a Cloud and Open-Source K8s application that orchestrates the replication of data via Airbyte Connectors. The Platform owns the correct configuration and runtime of replication including observability. A major feature of the platform is that it is run by open-source users, our Cloud product, and paid self-managed users. In order to support all these runtimes, we are looking for a Java engineer who also has deep expertise in K8s and Helm. You will lead technical initiatives that deliver key user-facing features that touch both our core application and K8s infrastructure.

While we give little importance to job titles, we believe every Airbyter should know their internal level and understand what’s expected of them in their role, at their level. This opportunity is for an L5+ Engineer. L5s contribute their deep expertise and experience to large-scale and complex problems. They drive impact by providing thought leadership and context to the organization, driving alignment across teams to achieve success with company objectives. L5s are often the senior-most member of their team and set a high bar for others to strive towards.
