Who are we?
As a member of our team, you will play a vital role in overseeing the daily operations of the Motor Carrier Section’s International Registration Plan (IRP) Unit, which issues registration credentials to interstate motor carriers and the Fuel Unit which administers fuel tax licensing and reporting for interstate motor carrier under the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) and intrastate motor carriers under the Maine Only program. This supervisor plans work assignments and directs resources with the goal of providing excellent customer service and efficient work production in accordance with Federal, State, Bureau, and multi-jurisdictional agreements, laws, rules, and regulation. This supervisor directly oversees staff, coordinates staff training and development, monitors and accounts for all monies collected in the units and manages and maintains the section computer records and inventory. The supervisor also communicates with other BMV sections, State and Federal agencies, and jurisdictions to comply with the requirements of multi-jurisdictional programs including the transmission of funds to and from jurisdictions.
Work hours for this position are Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Responding to written, telephone, and in-person questions regarding the International Registration Plan (IRP), International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA), Maine Only Fuel Program, and commercial vehicle laws, rules, and procedures.
- Maintaining various computer systems to perform and track work assignments – Maine IFTA/IRP Explore system, BMV Vehicle Services system, Access databases, etc.
- Ensuring that daily cash receipts are reconciled to daily transaction for the IRP and Fuel Units.
- Overseeing the maintenance and exchange of funds between Maine and other IRP and IFTA jurisdictions (i.e. incoming and outgoing transmittals) using various computer systems.
- Manage a team of amazing customer service representatives to include performance management, mentoring, and coaching to maintain a cohesive approach to our goals.
- Participating in the development of programs, policies and procedures for the Motor Carrier Section and Division of Vehicle Services.
- Collecting and maintaining data for individual and unit performance measures.
- Communicating and sharing information with other BMV units, state agencies, and jurisdictions where/when appropriate.
- Assisting the Senior Section Managers and the Director of Vehicle Services with special projects on an as needed basis.
In order to be successful, you must have:
- Use Microsoft Office Suite products and other Motor Vehicle software programs at advanced levels.
