About the role

Overview

Under the supervision of the Comptroller, the Vendor Payment Manager, as a member of the finance unit, will be responsible for the following: manage weekly medical invoice processing on behalf of the City of Boston related to members retired under a disability retirement from the Boston Retirement Board in accordance with MA law and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Review and process all medical and non-medical invoices for retirees.
  • Position requires ability to work with Auditing, Treasury, Budget, Workers’ Compensation and outside medical and billing providers as well as members. 
  • Utilize system capabilities to prevent double paymentS and overpayments.
  • Review and process invoices on THE Xybion software system according to MA Department of Industrial Accidents guidelines and MGL c. 152.
  • Manage both paid and denied invoices.
  • Notify members of invoices denied.
  • Prepare a weekly EOB Report.
  • Create a weekly EOB check match report from Peoplesoft Financials.
  • Review weekly voucher report to ensure accuracy and compare with Peoplesoft Financials check match report to ensure checks are issued for processed invoices.
  • Prepare weekly XML report for Auditing from voucher report data.
  • Prepare and mail/email EOBs to providers.
  • Manage and monitor the addition of new vendors to the Xybion system.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications

  • A minimum of two to three (2-3) years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in office management, office administration, business administration, or business management is required.
  •  An undergraduate degree from a recognized school with a major in business or public administration or equivalent is preferred and may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications and Google Suite.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
  • Experience with Oracle PeopleSoft applications preferred. Ability to learn Xybion Medical Software system and Riskmaster claims management system. 
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are preferred.
