Description:
Intern will support Reliability Test Group activities in the Photonics Platforms group and assist with the generation and reporting of data.  Experiment planning (DOE) and execution as well as Failure Analysis techniques will be taught and projects assigned.

Tasking will involve hands on operation of environmental test chambers and mechanical test equipment including abrasion, adhesion, tensile testing, lap shear, 4pt bend, and flexural strength testing of materials.  Measurement, and evaluation of test results will require use of inspection equipment and good documentation skills. 

Requirements

  • Student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university, with an expected graduation date between December, 2025 and June, 2026
  • Student must be in good academic standing at their university, with a preferred GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale

  • Mechanical engineering experience especially related to thermodynamics, temperature cycling, and product development preferred

  • Knowledge of chambers, laboratory equipment, failure analysis, data gathering and documentation experience preferred

  • Quick learner, high degree of flexibility

Compensation:

$33-$36 per hour

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on a number of factors including location and education level and will vary depending on confirmed job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
