The Lift and Rigging Engineer is a senior-level professional responsible for leading and overseeing complex lifting operations in the construction industry. This role demands extensive expertise, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of high-risk lift procedures. The engineer will mentor junior staff, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe and efficient lifting solutions. #LI-KC1 #liftengineer #riggingengineer #construction

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and execution of complex and high-risk lifting operations.
  • Develop and approve comprehensive lifting plans and method statements.
  • Conduct site inspections and risk assessments for critical lifts.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international safety standards (e.g., OSHA, LOLER).
  • Mentor and supervise Lifting Trainee, Level 1, and Level 2 Lifting professionals.
  • Coordinate with project managers, crane operators, rigging teams, and subcontractors.
  • Review and approve lifting equipment certifications and inspection records.
  • Participate in lifting incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Contribute to the development of lifting procedures and stamp when required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Civil, or Structural Engineering with current PE (Professional Engineer) license.
  • Extensive experience in lifting and rigging operations, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Proficient in lifting simulation software and CAD tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of lifting codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.

Minimum Qualifications

6+ years construction management experience in similar facility construction. PE required or degree + 4 years design experience and 6+ years construction experience.; Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either an ABET accredited program. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

Physical Demands:
• Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds. 
• Stand, Kneel, Bend, Stoop, Move, and Walk long distances in and around confined, cluttered places, and uneven areas.
• See and hear naturally or with correction.   
• Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties. 
• Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure. 
• Requires repetitive movement. 
• May require work above 5 feet in height.
• Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds. 
• Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.
