What you’ll do

We’re looking for an accomplished senior leader who is deeply experienced in compliance, risk management and technology to further develop a strategic approach to building and scaling compliance and risk solutions globally. In this role, you will partner with senior leaders across Stripe and help our business to understand, measure, and navigate compliance and risk issues to protect Stripe, our users, and our ecosystem. We appreciate that growing the GDP of the internet requires leaps into the unknown or untested and being risk-forward - but also taking measured and deliberate risks that are aligned with our business objectives and risk appetite. You will help lead our teams to strategically monitor and assure our risk-mitigating controls to enable our products to develop and scale in a risk-aware manner, build compliance and risk training and communications to help develop our culture of integrity, establish a scalable and mature approach to governance, develop a tech-forward compliance and risk tooling strategy, and help to oversee our regulatory reporting. You will draw on your deep expertise to lead our strategic solutions pillar as part of an established and continually developing second line at Stripe.

Responsibilities

• Lead Global Compliance and Risk Strategic Solutions globally at Stripe, an important pillar of our second line of defense, reporting to the Global Head of Compliance.
• Build and help execute a vision for a strategic solutions pillar to help scalably mature our compliance and risk programs and posture across Enterprise Risk Management, Regulatory Compliance, Product Compliance, Corporate Compliance, and Financial Crimes.
• Develop a deep understanding and astute perception of emerging compliance and risk issues.
• Ensure that Stripe's shared second line programs are fit for purpose to meet regulatory and partner obligations.
• Manage a strong global team of compliance, risk, and reporting professionals.
• Advise senior leadership on the development of compliance and risk posture across our complex business.
• Play a key second line leadership role and partner very effectively with the business.
• Report on the effectiveness of second line programs, including data, metrics, trend analyses, and recommendations.
• Act as a leadership advocate for a good compliance and risk culture.

Minimum requirements

• 15+ years of leadership experience in compliance or risk management with a preference for experience in the technology industry.
• Strong subject matter expertise in building compliance and risk programs relevant to Stripe’s business including monitoring and assurance, governance, reporting, compliance and risk tooling, and training.
• A demonstrated track record of partnering very effectively with business leaders.
• An established stakeholder network, with experience working with auditors, partners and regulators. 
• Proven experience in building and developing compliance and risk programs for scale.
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, including navigating leadership and interpersonal working
