Job Summary

PSEG is looking for a Summer 2026 Techincal Intern for the Transmission Design Engineering Team.

 

This job involves working as a civil/structural engineer in the Transmission Design Engineering team. The group is responsible for designing and maintaining PSE&G’s overhead transmission system. The intern will provide support to civil/structural engineers in the design of the transmission structures ranging from 69 kV to 500 kV, including structural and foundation design.     

 

This position will be Hybrid Fixed Intern will be required to travel to several PSE&G locations throughout the state during the internship program.

Job Responsibilities

Assignments will include working alongside professionals in the following areas:

  • Prepare drawings, calculations and technical documents under the guidance of senior engineers
  • Assist in the creation and modification of construction and maintenance reports
  • Apply industry standards and codes to design calculations (NESC, AISC, ASCE, etc)
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers and project managers to deliver safe, cost-effective solutions
  • Participate in site visits and gain exposure to the overhead transmission system

Job Specific Qualifications

Required education/skills: The successful candidate(s) must be actively pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited institution in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related discipline and graduating between December 2026 and May 2029. Students graduating in May/June 2026 are not eligible unless they are enrolling in a post-graduate degree program in the fall term of 2026. PSEG recognizes institutions of higher education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent. Candidates must have completed freshman level course work for consideration.

  • Because this position will require traveling to various PSEG locations, a valid driver's license and a safe driving record is required.
  • Department of Energy’s regulation 10 CFR 810 is required.
