The Distributed Energy (DE) team develops, invests in, and delivers distribution-connected solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in North America. The DE team offers the full spectrum of BESS and PV+BESS solutions – from integrated ESS hardware and software, project development and investment to asset management and operations.

Position Overview
The Construction Manager will manage Distributed Energy C&I scale photovoltaic installation projects at all stages of work. This position reports to the Sr. Director of Engineering & Delivery, or another senior management personnel that the President of the Company may designate. This is a remote position to the Qcells offices in San Francisco, California and working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 7:00am to 4:00pm, or as may be occasionally adjusted to address job site requirements. This position may be expected to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the Engineering and Project Management teams in the execution of PV solar and storage projects throughout the USA; 
  • Have a working understanding of the Prime Contract with client/utility.  Ensure that companies interests are met and obligations are fulfilled accordingly;
  • Assist in site evaluations and scope determination prior to booking new projects;
  • Assist in the development of existing and new EPC and subcontractor relationships;
  • Vet and qualify new subcontractors for company enrollment
  • Manage EPC contractor project site execution to maintain schedule, quality and safety; 
  • Creating and implementing construction planning schedules;
  • Coordinating suppliers and construction companies on site;
  • Ensure that all work is executed in a safe manner in accordance with OSHA, and company EHS rules and requirements.
  • Help develop, manage and monitor construction site logistics;
  • Assist in the negotiating and awarding of contracts;
  • Ensure that the Work is completed on schedule, within budget, and per quality and code requirements;
  • Manage and monitor subcontractors;
  • Interface with the Authority Having Jurisdiction to ensure that all work is executed in accordance with Federal/State/Local permitting requirements;
  • Manage utility interconnection, in coordination with the responsible contractors;
  • Help develop and follow all company guidelines and procedures;
  • Coordinate overall site safety management and compliance;
  • Coordinate the Work with internal and 3rd party engineers;
  • Visit project sites as necessary in order to properly manage construction;
  • Manage internal and consulting project site supervisors that will have site-specific responsibilities.
  • Attend internal and external meetings to discuss project progress
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure effective communication and results; and
  • Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience managing the overall construction of commercial solar projects. Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems is a plus.
  • Specific strength in electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of roof systems and civil construction.
  • Willingness to travel, up to 50% of the time
  • Excellent skills in Procore, MS Project or comparable tools, and possess strong technical aptitude.
  • Strong in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Assertive, able to cope with pressure, a team player
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Planning and organizing
