Intern, Utility Operations

Job Summary

The Utility Operations and Distribution team is looking for an Intern! 

Principal Responsibilities

The main role of this job is to inspect hydrants in the Greater Bridgeport Area.

• The role requires possible repairs (as needed), and general maintenance (i.e. checking caps and water pressure, clearing overgrowth, and painting the hydrants).  
• Intern will be tasked with recording all maintenance activities in SAP as well as creating written documentation of inspection/maintenance activities performed.
• This job requires the incumbent to work independently and to be thorough to ensure the hydrants are ready for an emergency.  
• Some hydrants are located near busy roadways, so proper safety procedures must be followed.  
• Training will be provided by Aquarion staff and a utility van along with equipment will also be provided.

Education/Certifications

• Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be able to work independently, thoroughly, and safely, applying training given.
• Basic computer skills - desktop knowledge and good typing.
• Intern must be enrolled in an accredited college program. 

Salary

• This position will run from mid-May through the end of August. 
• Intern will report to our Bridgeport location.
• Full-time (40 hours) is preferred.
• Intern will be expected to work from 7:00AM-3:30PM.
• This role will pay $17.00 an hour.
