The Senior HV Battery Technician is a hands-on technical expert responsible for the advanced assembly, testing, diagnostics, and field support of high-voltage (HV) battery systems. This role spans prototype build, validation, and field issue resolution, requiring strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead assembly and teardown of HV battery modules and packs, including cell integration, busbar and coolant systems, enclosure sealing, and diagnostic inspection.
- Support validation and lifecycle tests, operating automation systems, CAN-based tools, and electrical diagnostic equipment.
- Analyze test data, troubleshoot complex issues, and provide feedback to engineering for design and process improvements.
- Investigate and resolve high-priority HV battery concerns, supporting R&D teams.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on battery related projects.
- Mentor and train junior technicians, driving adherence to safety and best practices.
- Identify and implement improvements across build and test processes to enhance safety, efficiency, and reliability.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in automotive, EV, or HV battery systems as a technician.
- Associate’s degree in a technical field, ASE certification, or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in HV battery assembly, electrical diagnostics, CAN communication, and safe handling practices.
- High voltage certification strongly preferred.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and technical reporting skills.
- Ability to work independently, mentor peers, and interface cross-functionally.
- Flexible to work varied shifts and travel up to ~20%.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and technical reporting tools.
