Role Description:

Arcadis is seeking a Senior Estimator to join our team in New York/New Jersey. This position will work a Hybrid schedule with 4 days in our client office located in Manhattan and Jersey City. 

Role Accountabilities:

  • Perform detailed reviews of construction cost estimates for a broad range of projects across all business units, including Aviation, Ports, Tunnels, Bridges and Terminals
  • Develop and/or review detailed unit price and lump sum cost estimates, factoring in labor, material, equipment, subcontractor inputs, and project conditions.
  • Analyze and review estimates across various construction trades including building systems, heavy/civil infrastructure, and horizontal construction disciplines for technical accuracy and cost completeness.
  • Evaluate estimates for consistency with project scope, design documents, contract requirements, and identify any discrepancies or missing scope elements.
  • Work closely with design engineers, architects, project managers, contract specialists, schedulers, and financial analysts to clarify project details, construction phasing, and estimate components.
  • Review cost estimates for construction changes (change orders), ensuring accuracy, fairness, and conformance with contract and scope of work.
  • Provide estimate-based input for budget forecasting, funding allocations, and risk identification related to cost escalation and construction uncertainty.
  • Generate clear, organized cost estimate summaries, pricing breakdowns, and recommendation reports for internal use and stakeholder presentation.
  • Conduct field visits to validate site conditions, support estimate accuracy, and provide on-the-ground insight into constructability or phasing issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Possess an Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management degree or related degree/work experience
  • Minimum 10 years experience with a variety of construction trades for building, heavy/civil and infrastructure construction.
  • Experience must include the development of unit prices and/or lump sum estimates based on labor, materials and equipment.

Key Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with design and field engineers/architects, project managers, contract engineers, schedulers, and financial analysts.
  • Advanced skill sets in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and working knowledge of estimating software
  • Prior experience as an estimator for “horizontal” construction.
