<p><span><span>A Brighter, zero carbon future awaits! </span></span></p> <p> </p> <p><span><span>Join our dedicated team where we provide specialist electrical engineering services in the Planning and Development of High Voltage Transmission and Distribution Assets for the Networks Business. The team specialises in;<br/> Conceptual and Detailed Engineering Design <br/> Design Safety Management.<br/> Project Scoping, Programming and Commercial Management.</span></span></p> <p><span><span>The Senior Substation Engineer will be required to have strong project management and technical design background, detailed knowledge of internal safety procedures and excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.</span></span></p> <p> </p> <p><br/> <span><span><b>Key Responsibilities</b></span></span></p> <p><br/> <span><span>Responsibilities will cover the items below: </span></span></p> <p><span><span>The key responsibility of the role is to provide high quality designs and safety coordination on a diverse range of electricity transmission and distribution development projects. This includes:<br/> •    Overall responsibility for leading and delivering substation designs, design meetings and all programme deliverable, budgetary and quality requirements<br/> •    Providing technical support to colleagues in the area of substation design meetings and ensuring the verification of designs issued within the group<br/> •    Management and coordination of technical, commercial and financial aspects of the project with all internal and external stakeholders <br/> •    Overall responsibility for safety as Project Supervisor Design Stage (PSDP). Preparation &amp; review of design risk assessments and project H&amp;S plans for design &amp; construction teams  <br/> •    A strong work ethic with a clear focus on delivering results within a tight time frame whilst ensuring the safety and quality of the project is not impacted<br/> •    A proven track record of success contributing to the training and development of new entrants within the group<br/> •    The ability to manage and coordinate inputs from a range of engineering disciplines and key stakeholders<br/> •    A flexible approach to work, especially where necessary to deliver excellent customer service<br/> •    Excellent communication and report writing skills<br/> •    Production and evaluation of tenders and contractor negotiations to acquire contract agreement/signing.</span></span></p> <p> </p> <p><br/> <b><span><span>Knowledge, Skills and Experience</span></span></b></p> <p><br/> <span><span>Working as part of this dynamic team, you will always have new challenges and new problems to solve – working together is key. You will have the autonomy to choose how best to tackle tasks and solve problems with the support of your colleagues. <br/>  <br/> We are looking for the following skills;</span></span></p> <p> </p> <p><span><span><b>Essential</b><br/> •    5 years' plus relevant experience in a wide range of substation design including transmission and distribution substations.<br/> •    A strong understanding of all elements of substation tendering and tender evaluations, scoping, planning, design, costing, construction and commissioning<br/> •    Strong project management and contract management skills and knowledge <br/> •    Experience in control &amp; protection systems, auxiliary power systems (AC/DC), power transformers and or reactors.<br/> •    Full drivers licence and access to a car.<br/> •    Understanding and experience of the PSDP/CDMC processes.<br/> •    The demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.</span></span></p> <p> </p> <p><span><span><b>Desirable</b><br/> It is desirable that the candidate has achieved the following:</span></span></p> <p><span><span>•    PSDP Competency (or CDMC equivalent).</span></span></p> <p> </p> <p><br/> <b><span><span>Qualifications</span></span></b></p> <p> </p> <p><span><span><b>Essential</b><br/> Either level 8 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience is essential</span></span></p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p><span><span><b>Location</b><br/> ESB is committed to offering flexibility in ways of working and we call that Smart Working – combining digital tools with a culture of trust and empowerment to enable flexible and remote ways of working. <br/>  <br/> The successful candidate may combine remote / smart working within the jurisdiction, with attendance at base for in-person collaboration, the frequency of which is agreed with the manager and subject to ongoing review. <br/>  <br/> This role is based in the ESB E&amp;MP Dublin or Cork office but regular travel to project locations as required is a key requirement of the role. </span></span></p> <p> </p> <p><br/> <span><span><b>General</b><br/> It is not anticipated that a staff member still on probation (either new entrant probation or a probation from a previous promotion) will be eligible to apply for a promotional vacancy.<br
