USTA New England is seeking a part-time Recreational Tennis Assistant to assist with coordinating the planning, administration, promotion and growth of recreational tennis, with a focus on Tennis in the Parks, in New England. Tennis in the Parks is a turn-key program that USTA New England delivers in partnership with park & recreation departments and community serving organizations. USTA New England hires coaches to deliver customer-focused, affordable, accessible, and fun, introductory tennis for youth and adults. This position plays a key role in the Tennis in the Parks infrastructure and growth as the organization expands to ‘next step’ program offerings to meet customer needs. This is a hybrid part-time non-exempt position scheduled to work up to 25 hours per week with an in-person expectation two times (2x) per month. Additional in-person attendance will be required for occasional events such as section programming, all-staff meetings, trainings, etc. While this position is temporary (currently approved through 2026), there is potential that this position could evolve into a permanent role based on performance and business need. The job will include, but is not limited, to the following responsibilities.
Assist with administration and execution of current Tennis in the Parks (TIP) programming. This includes but is not limited to:
Assist with the hiring, training and onboarding of seasonal coaches.
Responsible for equipment inventory for programs across the department and coordinates program equipment needs.
Complete and facilitate timely and accurate invoicing for programs.
Systematize and organize player databases for all assigned programs.
Assist with development of player and coach survey, distribution and assessment of survey results for all programs.
Collaborate with Tennis in the Parks Managers to promote and launch ‘next step’ programs as part of maximizing player participation through an engaging, quality program pathway.
Assist with driving coach engagement and retention through the planning and execution of coach recruitment efforts, coach training, innovative ideas for continuing coach education, and coach feedback through surveys and focus groups.
Collaborate with other TIP managers, Coach Development Coordinator and Marketing Department on coach recruitment and marketing plans.
Support the Social League Coordinator with new player events, flex leagues and other areas in the bridge program space.
Make recommendations and improvements to standard program operating procedures when administering the program.
Attend in-person trainings and conferences as needed.
Demonstrates, through actions and interactions with others, a commitment to USTA New England's purpose, mission, and values.
Travel as needed throughout New England upon approval by supervisor.
Additional tasks and projects as assigned by supervisor and company leadership.
