Java AI Application Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Data Analytics Lead/Analyst with 6-10 years of expertise in data analytics, business intelligence, and reporting. The ideal candidate will work with Big Data, Generative AI, Snowflake, Python, REST APIs, and exposure to reporting tools like Cognos and Tableau to develop and optimize analytics solutions that drive business insights. Experience with Angular is an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead data analytics initiatives, translating business needs into actionable insights and reporting solutions.

• Utilize Python for data analysis, automation, and AI-driven insights.

• Work with Big Data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Databricks) to handle large-scale datasets.

• Develop and integrate REST APIs for data exchange and reporting automation.

• Ensure data governance, integrity, and security across analytics workflows.

• Collaborate with cross-functional and offshore teams to deliver scalable analytics solutions.

• Provide leadership in data strategy, visualization best practices, and business intelligence initiatives.

• Conduct ad hoc analysis and deep dives into key business performance metrics.

• Mentor and guide junior analysts in data best practices and reporting methodologies.

• Integrates subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area.

• Responsible for volume, quality, timeliness and delivery of data science projects along with short-term planning resource planning.

• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Required Qualifications

• 8-12 years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or data engineering.

• Strong Programming skills in Java, developing and integrating REST APIs and Python, automation and AI-driven analytics.

• Experience in Snowflake, including data warehousing and performance optimization.

• Leverage Generative AI for predictive analytics, automation, and business intelligence.

• Design and implement benchmarks to measure the performance of software systems within AI capabilities and make recommendations on technology selection.

• Develop applications that leverage LLMs and FMs.

• Experience working with Big Data tools such as Spark, Hadoop, or Databricks with hands on experience in tuning Hive and impala and knowledge on Apache Tez and Spark frameworks

• Expert knowledge on Yarn architecture, MRv2, HDFS and ECO system tech stack and experience handling large datasets.

• Hands-on experience with Angular for building data visualization or reporting applications.

• Exposure/experience with Cognos and Tableau for dashboard and report development.

• Hands on experience and good understanding of column-oriented databases, distributed database management systems and NoSQL databases.

• Expertise on advanced analytics solutions (such as predictive, prescriptive and descriptive analytics) and real-time analytics

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis, or similar).

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS GCP) and CI/CD practices.

• Understanding of data security, governance, and compliance best practices.

• Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially master’s degree
