Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is seeking to hire an Executive I for The Office of Strategic Services. This position will instruct and certify archery coaches/teachers in the schools, become a Certified Instructor and teach classes, assist with the coordination of vendors and setup in the Conservation World at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield and the Illinois State Fair in Du Quoin, travel to attend weekday and weekend events, meetings, and fund-raising events, will work with purchasing / procurement liaisons to ensure purchasing requirements are met. Essential Functions
- Assists, organizes, plans, executes, controls, and evaluates the statewide Wing shooting Program.
- Assists with the Department’s Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP).
- Assist with the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP).
- Implements guidelines, procedures and processes, and expertise to department programs including but not limited to: Special Events, Disabled Outdoor Opportunities, Special youth hunts, State tournaments, the Illinois State Fair, Fort Massac Encampment, Special Hunts, etc.
- Performs administrative support for the unit.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in business or public administration.
- Requires one-year of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.
Preferred Qualifications
- One (1) year of experience handling firearms and ammunition.
- One (1) year of working experience coordinating events and working closely with vendors.
- One (1) year of working experience instructing classes, public speaking and training.
- One (1) year of working experience developing and managing a small agency or company functional program.
