About the role

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for Columbia Helicopter’s Supply Chain (Procurement, Demand Forecasting and Production Planning, Supplier Relationship Management, Import/Export Control, Logistics, Supplier Engineering and Cost Management) with its primary goal to provide the best service and the highest quality products to its customers.
  • Provides leadership, training, development, and direction for a highly skilled team of professionals in a highly complex and regulated environment.
  • Develops and provides the Company with a Strategic Operating Plan (SOP) for the Supply Chain organization which includes a detailed material acquisition plan and an expense and resource forecast that aligns with the short-term performance goals and longer-range strategic objectives of the Company.
  • Develops near term and longer-range demand and capacity planning requirements.
  • Manages the Company’s inventory assets to maximize cash flow and achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction possible.
  • Ensures quality parts, materials, and goods and services are provided at the right time, at the right location, at a competitive price.
  • Manages all aspects of supplier relationships to include contract negotiations, quality and delivery performance and material costs.
  • Evaluates each supplier’s capabilities and providing a “support roadmap” that meets the longer range needs of the Company.
  • Works effectively with other departments on the design of new products and the support of both current and legacy designs considering increasing supplier lead times and changing customer needs in a growth-oriented environment.
  • Responsible for ongoing process simplification and continuous improvement to eliminate waste and reduce costs while providing a desirable and safe working environment for Company employees.
  • Works closely with Engineering to resolve material review board (MRB) issues and to minimize scrap.
  • Establishes a formal metrics tracking and reporting system for the Supply Chain Organization that measures monthly performance to deliver results which meet or exceed the financial, operational, and key performance indicators (KPIs) of the Company.

LEADERSHIP, EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIRMENTS:  

      Leadership:

  • Participates as key member of the Senior Leadership Team in developing strategies, objectives and tactics required to meet the Company’s longer-term growth and profitability goals.
  • Has proven track record leading a medium to large size global Supply Chain Organization and managing critical, complex projects while delivering desired results in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
  • Has ability to clearly articulate strategies, objectives, and tactics informally and formally at the Executive Management level.
  • Is a “visionary” leader, with an “eye towards the future”, who can lead culture change as appropriate.
  • Possesses a bias toward action and delivering results.
  • Has a demonstrated ability making difficult decisions with limited information.
  • Proven ability to successfully interact with all levels within the Company while building trust, promoting Company values, and supporting Teamwork.
  • Possesses “high emotional intelligence” and is a person that people “rally” behind.
  • Has excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

Experience:

  • A minimum of (10) years of Supply Chain experience preferably with a medium to large size company within the aviation industry.
  • Proven track record with increasing levels of responsibility, delivering results in a vertically integrated, highly complex and regulated environment.
  • A Supply Chain background with preferably a focus on aviation products.
  • Extensive experience implementing “Lean” principles is preferred but not required.
  • Proven track record in managing large, complex projects that require leading cultural change.
  • Experience in reinvigorating and sustaining Supply Chain operations for products that are either out-of-production or “sun-setting” due to end-of-life support.
  • Possesses a working knowledge and experience in Enterprise Requirements Planning (ERP) implementations.

Education and Certifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering or other technically oriented field. MBA desired.  
  • ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) certified as a “U.S. person”.
  • APICS and ASQC certifications advantageous but not required.
