THE OPPORTUNITY: Apparel Production Technical Writer 

REPORTS TO: Technical Design Manager

LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA (Hybrid)

Headquartered in Los Angeles, CA with an office in New York, NY, Birdy Grey supports remote work for eligible roles. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. 

Birdy Grey is looking for a highly detail oriented Apparel Production Technical Writer to support our Technical Design team. 

This role will be responsible for creating and maintaining record keeping structures, handbooks and manuals, building templates in Excel, a How to Measure Handbook with illustrations, and other essential documents. 

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

• Create illustrations of garments using Illustrator
• Create layouts of handbooks using InDesign
• Create templates in Excel with built in dependencies and scripts
• Create and edit file organization structures
• Create compelling and specific technical copy for handbooks
• Take on other projects as needed

THE RIGHT CANDIDATE: QUALIFICATIONS & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

• Power user of: Excel, InDesign, Illustrator
• Thrive in low oversight role
• Detail oriented
• Enjoy repetitive tasks
• Enjoy sorting through data and discovering what is most useful and what can be eliminated
• An eye for graphic design
• Ability to write technical copy that is detailed, compelling, and specific
• Understand the basics of Apparel Construction and Design

EDUCATION: Associates Degree Required

EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS:

• 2-4 years of experience in technical writing, preferably Apparel Industry
• Impeccable organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Proactive problem solver with the ability to troubleshoot and/or escalate issues effectively.
• Hard working and willing to roll sleeves up - no job is too big or too small.
• You have an entrepreneurial spirit. You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, fluid environment. You are comfortable with ambiguity and take initiative to lead projects.

California Pay Range$25—$50 USD
