General Summary
The Athletics Marketing Director is responsible for leading the development and execution of marketing strategies that foster revenue generation, promote athletic programs and drive fan engagement. This includes managing digital and social media efforts, creating promotional campaigns, coordinating in-game and community events, and collaborating with departments such as ticketing and communications to maximize reach and impact. The Athletics Marketing Director plays a key role in building and maintaining a strong brand presence, increasing attendance at events, and enhancing the overall fan experience to foster long-term loyalty and support.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement marketing plans to increase attendance, revenue, and fan engagement for all athletic events, with a focus on high-impact sports.
- Oversee day-to-day management of team and department social accounts in coordination with creative and sports information staff.
- Develop game day scripts for all home athletics events and coordinate the logistics behind theme nights, giveaways, on-field/ on-court contests, fan zones, and student-focused activities to maximize fan involvement and atmosphere.
- Utilize analytics tools to track growth, engagement, and campaign effectiveness; adjust strategy based on data insights.
- Work closely with event operations, spirit squads, band, and sponsors to ensure seamless execution and memorable game day moments.
- Supervise a team of marketing interns and student workers to meet unit goals.

Necessary Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Two (2) years of experience in sports marketing, or a related field.
- Valid driver’s license
- Proficiency in tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, and social media scheduling/analytics platforms is required.
- Familiarity with NCAA rules and regulations related to promotional content and student-athlete use is required.
- Excellent public relations, oral and written communication skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or pursuit of a master’s degree.
- Four (4) years of collegiate athletics experience.
